Super Senior Connection is an online community 100% catered to senior citizens leading active lifestyles. The brainchild of Arthur Stevens, Muay Thai boxer and fitness enthusiast, the site is designed to bring people of all ages together for conversation, exchange of knowledge, and light-hearted entertainment. Discussion topics include travel, fitness, wealth management, community service, advice, and more.

Designing a multi-faceted site with several engagement points was an interesting challenge. Our primary goal was to create a balance between each of the desired user actions while keeping the overall design simple and free of clutter. We knew the audience would mainly be using this site in their off time, so keeping the site user-friendly and easy to navigate on devices other than computers became a critical piece of development. All functionality was thoroughly tested for compatibility on tablets and mobile devices to ensure there was no loss in quality at any level.

The architecture of the site consists of highly customized installations of BuddyPress, BBPress, and WordPress designed to work seamlessly together. Outside of the forum functionality, users are also able to create accounts, upload pictures, and submit articles to the site. User-submitted articles also have the opportunity to be “featured” so as to encourage submissions.

One of the most unique features of the online community, however, is the Super Senior Star area where user-submitted messages ranging from birthday wishes to announcements and acknowledgments. The goal of this feature is to create a place where community contributors will be recognized for their participation and input within the community.

After several months of development and testing, we’re beyond excited to see this unique “online rec room” come to life. Art’s vision and guidance throughout the project kept us on course and proved to be invaluable when we came to proverbial “forks in the road.” As with any sites that feature UGC (user generated content), where this community ends up in now in the hands of the very people we built it for; and we can’t wait to see what it becomes!

Altor Bioscience came to us with a goal to reach a wider range of audiences. Their website needed to speak to viewers with varying levels of knowledge on curing cancer and viral infections. We wanted to articulate Altor’s mission to audiences like scientists, investors, and the general public.

We accomplished this goal by creating a lead-in for each target on the home page. “Our Science” for the scientists, “Pipeline” for patients looking for answers, and “News” for investors to understand that Altor means business. We also simplified the site, paying close attention to strong imagery and content that will appeal to each target audience.

In addition, we wanted to showcase Altor Bioscience’s participation in The Cancer Moonshot 2020 Program.  This collaboration brings researchers together to provide necessary tools for furthering technology for finding the cure for cancer.

Working with the Altor Bioscience team, we were able to produce a site that communicates the Altor technology and solutions to any viewer.

When featuring her yoga retreats, it’s important for visitors to understand the unique experience they get when booking with her. Not only are her retreats expertly organized, but extreme care is put into finding the perfect location and planning a schedule that is filled with an ideal blend of activities.

We accomplished this goal by incorporating actual imagery and video footage from past retreats that showcase exactly what guests experience. Robust video testimonials were included to help to provide a better understanding of the retreats from a first person perspective.

We setup payment processing on the site so that visitors could book retreats, workshops, and life coaching without Lisa needing to process payments over the phone- freeing up more of her time to do what she loves. We also incorporated newsletter signup functionality so she can keep her clients informed of upcoming retreats, workshops, or events.

Lisa sat down with us at every stage of this project to help us better understand exactly the kind of imagery and feel she wanted her clients to experience. Her clear, consistent communication throughout the development process gave us better insight into the environment she encourages- and that we needed to make sure was present on her new site.

The homepage features a clean layout with a focused navigation designed to showcase only the pertinent information. The navigation that stays with the user on scroll to facilitate multi-page browsing. The attorneys’ qualifications are clearly laid out on their bio pages, and representative cases are highlighted on the homepage and on the main navigation of the site. The responsive design is will allow for key interactions to happen on any device.

As expected, the IR Law team was extremely organized. When we began to lay out design, they were all very engaged in the process and were a pleasure to work with. We’re excited to see this “after” go live- check out the end result here.

The new site places the emphasis on the most important part of the Foundation; the people that comprise it. Donors, alumni, and students come to life with compelling videos that capture the spirit of the American Dream campaign.

Being a charitable organization, donations are the lifeblood of the foundation. The streamlined navigation centers on the key points of the foundation’s mission, the lives it helps to impact, and the numerous ways donors can contribute.

Tony Catone, Creative Director, had a very specific vision from the start: incite action. The ever-present, brightly colored call-to-action buttons, the odometer animation on the statistics, and the auto-play hover effects on the videos are all designed to ask users to engage and let the site tell its story.

Tony’s creative vision was ignited by the people who are the Foundation;

“I really enjoyed working on this project- especially after watching the videos about the beneficiaries of the scholarships and seeing just how much the Foundation does for the students. After listening to their stories, I was inspired to take action- so I knew these videos needed to be the website’s heart.”

Exults CEO, Zach Hoffman, knew the Foundation needed to be showcased in a way that would help people better understand its reach:

“This new website represents the organization in the right light; it speaks volumes about the Foundation’s powerful narrative. When you visit this site, it tells an emotional, empowering story about the Foundation’s incredible mission to create change within our community. Listening to the students talk about their experience in their own voice helps donors understand exactly where their money is going: to the people who will help shape our future.”

After learning about the Foundation and the people who power it, we’re excited to see this project come to life and the response from the community, students, alumni, and donors. We hope to have conveyed the chief message at the core of the organization: how empowering people through education can change lives.
